The Elder Cynthia Lowery and Elder Shirley King Memorial Scholarship

The River of Life Church (ROLC) proudly honors the legacies of Elder Cynthia Lowery and Elder Shirley King through the establishment of a scholarship fund. These remarkable women embodied a spirit of excellence, faith, and dedication to empowering others. With successful careers in both corporate America and entrepreneurship, they were instrumental in shaping ROLC and played pivotal roles in founding Imagine Lincoln Public Charter School.

In tribute to their lifelong commitment to education and mentorship, this scholarship fund aims to support members, their children, and grandchildren in pursuing higher education. Our belief in the transformative power of education underscores our commitment to assisting individuals as they prepare for future careers and endeavors.

The scholarship committee, entrusted with the responsibility of reviewing applicants, will evaluate candidates based on academic achievements, leadership qualities, involvement in church, school, and community activities, as well as submission of a video and letter of recommendation. Awards will range from $250 to $1,000, dependent on the number of applicants and available funds, and will be granted for study at accredited institutions of the recipient’s choice.

We recognize that this financial support may not cover all educational expenses; however, it is our hope that these scholarships serve as catalysts for the recipients’ continued pursuit of excellence. Applicants must apply for the academic year immediately following the award, ensuring timely utilization of the scholarship.

To be considered, applications must be submitted electronically or via mail by May 30, 2024. Late or incomplete submissions will not be reviewed. For further inquiries, please reach out to the ROLC Scholarship Committee at theriverscholarship@riveroflifeonline.org.

Through the Elder Cynthia Lowery and Elder Shirley King Memorial Scholarship Fund, we honor the enduring legacy of these exceptional women by investing in the educational aspirations of our community’s future leaders.

Sincerely,

Pastor Charles Whitaker
