Special Announcement
IMPORTANT: River of Life response to the COVID-19 (CoronaVirus)
Dear River of Life Family and Friends,
I want to express my thanks to God for His faithfulness to us over the past 18 months as we have lived through this pandemic. As a leadership, we have been very deliberate on our approach of having in-person service. Our number one priority is the safety of all our members, guests and friends. We have been very thorough in following CDC and local government guidelines for the several funerals and limited events we have done over the past year.
As we prepare to do our first in-person services this Sunday since March of 2020, we have worked with a certified consultant group on how to maintain the highest safety protocols for our services. The following actions will be implemented at the River so you can have a safe, powerful and impactful in-person experience:
Our website (riveroflifeonline.org) has two links that allow you to complete a Health Self-check before coming to service and a Liability Waiver Form for attending service (this only needs to be completed once).
When you come into church and park, you will notice some A frame signs on the ground with QR codes. You can use your phone camera and point it to the QR code and it will connect you to the church bulletin or the Liability Waiver Form. (See the links below to get a head start).
When you enter the doors, you will be asked if you have completed the waiver form. If you have not completed it, you can fill out a hard copy or you can complete the form with your phone by using the QR code.
You will be asked to have your temperature checked.
You will be required to wear a mask at all times while in the building.
You also will be given an opportunity to get a red, yellow or green wristband to keep and wear for each time you come to service. Red means no physical contact; Yellow means fist and elbow bumps only; Green means handshakes and hugs.
For communion service, you will be able to pick up your communion elements that will be on a table in a small plastic bag near the restrooms before you enter the sanctuary. As you exit the sanctuary you can discard the used elements in trash cans that will be at the doors.
There will be hand sanitizers located in the foyer, hallways and throughout the sanctuary.
There will be air purifiers on that kill all airborne viruses and bacteria.
Bathrooms will have arm handles for pulling open the doors. The faucets and hand towels will be touchless.
Seating will be spread out except for those who are in the same family.
The ushers will hand an envelope for giving to anyone who wants one. The QR code for giving and the church bulletin will be on the tv and projection screens and on signs in the foyer.
During the offering time in service, you can use an envelope and place your offering in the buckets that will be on hi-boy tables in the front, side and back of the sanctuary. You can still give online through our website or via text or CashApp or Venmo or through the QR code that will be displayed on the projection screens.
The ushers will direct the flow of traffic for entrance and exit of the service.
There will be no altar calls but those who need prayer will be able to use the QR code for our Connect/Prayer Card that will be displayed on the projection screen when Pastor does special prayer. There will also be identifiable leaders in the foyer to assist anyone with special prayer needs.
The Café and Bookstore will not be open until further notice.
There will be no in-person children’s ministry or teenager ministry until further notice.
We request that parents keep all children under 12 with them at all times during the services.
No one will be allowed to linger inside the building after service. We want to encourage fellowship to be outside.
If someone appears to be sick, running a high temperature or not feeling well, we will encourage them to go home or seek medical attention. Our Safety Team (led by Liz Mcnair) will assist anyone who gets sick to the family bathroom and take the appropriate action for helping that person.
If a person who attended service is found to have COVID, Gay Moore, our COVID Info Coordinator, must be notified and she will take the appropriate actions to notify all those who need to be informed.
The only people who will not be wearing mask for a short period of time will be those speaking or singing on the stage.
The service will be no longer than 70 minutes.
There will be no van transportation until further notice.
In addition, we are not having Wednesday Night Gathering, any ministry meetings nor activities in the month August as we designate this as our rest and planning month.
Starting September 8th, we will be doing Wednesday Night Live Bible Study that will feature teaching from me, the elders, ministers and other leaders. It will be live at the River and broadcast on Zoom, Facebook and YouTube.
As always we will continue to access the current state of COVID and be on a swivel to shift and change things if necessary. We will keep you informed. If you have any questions, please contact the elders, your shepherd leader or the church office at 301-316-5433 or email us at info@riveroflifeonline.org.
We look forward to seeing you starting Sunday, August 1st at 10:00AM (plan to arrive by 9:30AM).
Many Blessings to you and your family,
Pastor Charles & First Lady Cheryl Whitaker
